The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Board of Governors (BoG) have decided to wait for the implementation of a possible policy on officials with dual roles, since the Test series with Australia is underway.
The decision was taken at the 31st meeting of the BoGs, with PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan being authorised to take a decision on a case-to-case basis, depending on whether or not there was a conflict of interest arising for the officials holding two positions.
The incumbent chief selector and manager Moin Khan is the most prominent official who has had to endure intense scrutiny in recent days.
Speculation was rife on his removal as the manager, but the BoG decided to wait for a decision in this regard.
Committee to choose ICC Presidency candidate
The BoG also deferred a decision on the nomination of a candidate who would take over as the International Cricket Council (ICC) president next year.
As per the ICC’s rotation policy, the next president for the governing body of the game is to be chosen by Pakistan — former chairman and member PCB Executive Committee Najam Sethi has been widely tipped as the favourite to get the nod.
A final decision in this regard is expected to be reached in a week’s time.
Moreover, the post of the chairperson of the women’s wing was abolished as the term of Bushra Aitzaz at the helm of the wing ends this month.
The post has been eliminated following the implementation of the new PCB constitution.
Saqlain’s contract to be reviewed
The PCB Cricket Committee has decided that since Saqlain Mushtaq’s one-month contract is over, a review will take place of whether or not to extend his contract
Following that evaluation, the Cricket Committee headed by Shakil Sheikh will decide whether or not to acquire the services of Saqlain Mushtaq afresh.
