QUETTA: Unidentified men opened fire on a bus in the outskirts of Quetta on Thursday, killing eight people — said to belong to the Hazara community — and injuring one, in what is believed to be a sectarian attack.

The death toll reached nine after assailants shot dead another man from the Hazara community on Kirani Road—an hour after the Hazarganji incident.

Ten men were on the bus and were about to leave a vegetable market in the Hazar Ganji area when five men, who arived on two motorbikes, boarded the bus and opened fire.

“They killed a man outside the bus and others inside the bus. They were killed after they bought vegetables,” informed SSP Imran Qureshi.

The victims were reportedly Shias belonging to the Hazara community.

Police and security forces quickly arrived and the area was cordoned off.

Capital Police Chief Quetta Abdul Razzaq Cheema confirmed the death toll following the incident. “Eight were killed and one is wounded. They came on the bus to buy vegetables,” he told The Express Tribune.

All the bodies and those injured were transported to the Combined Military Hospital Quetta.

SSP Imran Qureshi said said that security is always provided to people from the Hazara community when they come to buy vegetables from the Hazar Ganji area; however, on this occasion they came to the area without informing the police.

The police is culpable. The police helped the killers.
Hazaras informed the police. Police refused to
provide security. Said they were busy. Did not have
    enough man power. They lied.
Take it from one who lives there.

You kill innocent people buying vegetables because they look different, because they worship different. You want every one to look the same and worship the same as you. It will never happen. Nature has made us different and this difference will be reflected in the way we look, the way we pray and the way we talk. When you respect these differences, you respect Allah.

Why don’t we say that Pakistanis are killed? Why is this division among our Pakistani people. They wouldn’t be killed if we have not tagged people of Pakistan on their faith and languages. Our media is also responsible for this kind of division and above news is the example of this.

State declares one community non muslim by law and non muslims not eligible for PM post, blasphemy law for only one religion. You know when cracks are so wide it can’t be hided by whitewashing.

Pakistan, self-proclaimed “Islamic Republic”, “Ideological Muslim State”, “Citadel of Islam”, “Sole Islamic Nuclear Weapon Power” and “Safe Haven for the Muslims of The Indian Sub-Continent” yet again witnesses Muslims getting slaughtered for nothing more than being Muslim!

Why is it that despite all the grand Islamic titles that Pakistan has bestowed upon herself, Muslims are unable to practice their own religion in safety in Pakistan?

Ironical that Pakistan’s founder Mr. M.A. Jinnah would not have enjoyed an assured prospect of survival following {his original?} Shia sect of Islam in Pakistan and that he would have substantially improved his survival prospects by remaining in India.

Dear sir, police is afraid of their own lives. You remember last year all senior police officers (including DIGs) were wiped out in one blast in police line Qta. It is our hyper powerfull agency that is doing it all…They can create PAT, PTI dharna and now creating Shia Dharna..

It looks like Pakistan is just a piece of land where there is no government, no governance, no law and no order.
Again some ruling crooks will issue a statement and yet again “condemn” this act.
Irrespective of caste and race, the state is responsible for safety and well being of its citizens.
If you can not govern, why dont you just quit?
We do not need this democracy where each day so many innocents get killed, where people do not have jobs, where poor are getting poorer and even selling their kids, where our women are raped. And we have looters, illiterate goons as our leaders and our police is under influence of goons.
Our politicians will surely be in the court of Allah swt and will pay heavily for their deeds (because we dont see anything happening to them in this world – unless we see a revolution).
We should all support Imran Khan for…if he is not the best…atleast he is the better among present lot.

    @Abdullah:
This is because general public is not being killed. Only a specific community is being targeted.
If you have 2 children, a boy and a girl and someone is constantly targeting (for example) your girl – would you say “my children are being targeted”? No you wont and mention about the girl.

Another act of cowardliness and this is happening again. This is not the matter of media differentiating them because of the sect that they belong to but the killers has made them separate by doing this from such a long time. This is basic rule of the society a group of people either getting good or bad from someone wants themselves to be associated with a name and those who killed them have given them this name,
