Underpass issues

Letter October 17, 2014
Before something disastrous happens, we request authorities to take suitable measures for proper drainage of rainwater

ISLAMABAD: Through your esteemed newspaper, we want to draw the attention of  the relevant authorities towards a grave issue of stagnant rainwater and poor drainage system in the underpass connecting Humak Model Town, Islamabad with GT road. Whenever it rains, the underpass gets filled with water ranging between one to two feet due to poor drainage, and this chaotic situation remains the same for months. Because of this vehicles end up avoiding the underpass and most of them go through the wrong side of the road to come on GT road. This results in a higher risk of road accidents and traffic jams in front of Bahria, phase one.

Before something disastrous happens, we request the authorities to take suitable measures for proper drainage of rainwater so that the underpass can used for heavy traffic. This will also relieve the residents of the adjacent areas from the miserable situation.
