Stance well communicated

Letter October 16, 2014
It is hoped that in future as well, Pakistan will emphatically state, pursue justified concerns through peaceful means

LAHORE: In a meeting with a delegation of US senators, the prime minister categorically stated Pakistan’s principled stance on the Kashmir issue, that it should be resolved as per aspirations of Kashmiris and under the resolutions of the UN. The prime minister further reiterated that the UN and the international community should play their due roles in implementing resolutions regarding Kashmir. He also emphasised that Pakistan believes that all disputes between India and Pakistan should be resolved through negotiations and that is the reason why we condemn the cancellation of foreign secretary-level talks between the neighbouring countries.

These categorical statements are heartening and it is hoped that in future as well, Pakistan will emphatically state and pursue its justified concerns through peaceful means and will not come under any undue pressure.
