Right to education

Letter October 16, 2014
The first step is to build schools and to provide free education and textbooks to students

KARACHI: This is with reference to the story titled “Right to education” (October 14). Access to free education is the basic right of every citizen. Pakistan has a high poverty rate and an extremely low literacy rate. Therefore, important steps need to be taken by the government in order to overcome these problems.

An educated nation builds a strong country with a bright future. Poverty, education and development of the country are all intertwined. The first step is to build schools and to provide free education and textbooks to students. There should be a strict check on the quality of education being imparted in government schools and colleges. As the poverty rate is high in Pakistan, the main aim of the government should be to help those who are not able to attend school due to financial problems. This can eventually help us in achieving a parha likha Pakistan.
