Press Release October 01, 2014

KARACHI: The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) sealed 10 different private public sale projects located in New Karachi, in compliance with the Sindh High Court orders. SBCA director-general Manzoor Qadir held a meeting with all senior and junior officers of Liaquatabad at the SBCA headquarters. He called for timely and effective action against illegal construction and announced that 10 projects have been sealed. He added that major causes of corruption in the city are construction against or without the approval of the building plan, illegal construction of flats or units especially on residential plots and illegal construction on parking areas. Any kind of pressure, intimidation or threats will prove futile to hinder the operation against illegal construction, said Qadir. The land on which these 10 projects were being built was reserved for greenbelts. A case was filed against the builders for illegal construction, after which the SHC ordered that these projects be sealed.
