QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Malik Baloch’s nephew was critically wounded on Tuesday after he shot himself in what was believed to be a suicide attempt.

Umar Jan, son of Baloch's elder brother Hasil Khan, attempted suicide by shooting himself in his neck at his house in Josak area of Turbat.

The Turbat police confirmed that Umar, who is in his 20s, tried to commit suicide.

“He was rushed to Turbat Medical Center where he is said to be in critical condition," a police official said.

Citing the possible reason behind his suicide, the police said, “He was physically disabled after a tragic road accident a few months ago in Turbat.”

Police are further investigating the incident and it is believed that doctors may shift him to a hospital in Karachi for further treatment.
