Road to progress: Development scheme planned for Torghar district

Estimated cost of the project will exceed Rs701 million.

A high-level meeting was held to assess the development work under way in Torghar district. According to a press statement issued on Thursday night, the meeting, chaired by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Home and Tribal Affairs Secretary Syed Akhtar Ali Shah, aimed to find ways to accelerate the pace of development in the district.


The Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) was asked to generate funds, recruit staff and get hold of machinery to clear land. The estimated cost of the project will exceed Rs701 million, read the statement.

Plans to construct commercial buildings in the district were chalked out. Moreover, the establishment of official residences and improvement in the quality of health facilities and fish farming in the district was also discussed. The handout added efforts to widen roads in the rural areas of Torghar were also addressed.

The issue of building barracks for the 166 levies personnel stationed in the district was also raised.

The home secretary insisted all officials posted in Torghar should ensure all development projects are completed by the fixed deadlines and brought at par with other schemes in the province.

Torghar was previously a tribal area until it was declared a district under Article 246 of the Constitution. Since then, frequent efforts have been made to generate progress and development in the district.
