Shot dead: Policemen among four gunned down

Unidentified men shot 54-year-old constable Mushtaq near Sarafa Bazaar.

Four people, including two police constables, were killed in the city on Tuesday.


According to the police, unidentified men on a motorcycle opened fire at head constable Yousuf Khan, 40, near Al Hasan Bakery in Organi Town sector No. 4 within the limits of Pirabad police station.

According to SHO Naseer Magsi, the deceased was working with the Karachi police and was deployed as a gunman with Sunni Tehreek’s Sarwat Ijaz Qadri. For the last two days Khan was on training at the Saeedabad police training centre.

He was on his way to the centre in civilian clothes when the men attacked him. The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. The police said that he was from Swat and was living with his family near the Matric Board Office.

In Paposh Nagar, unidentified men shot 54-year-old constable Mushtaq near Sarafa Bazaar within the limits of the Paposh Nagar police station. The police said that Mushtaq was on duty at the bazaar and was associated with Paposh Nagar police station for more than a year.

The deceased was resident of Qasba Colony and the police suspect that he was attacked by militants. He was taken to a hospital but succumbed to injuries.

In an unrelated incident, a young man was shot dead near MPR Colony, Orangi Town, when unidentified men opened fire at him. The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was identified Asghar, 25, a resident of Aliabad.

SHO Tanveer Murad said that the deceased was standing next to his motorcycle when he was attacked.

In Lyari, unidentified armed man shot at Samad Baloch, 27, within the limits of the Baghdadi police station. According to SHO Khalid Abbasi, the deceased was associated with the Uzair Baloch group.
