Have mercy on Pakistan

Letter September 02, 2014
Javed Hashmi’s recent incident of leaving Imran should be a lesson. He should not welcome lotas in the party.

LAHORE: Whether one likes or dislikes Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri, it cannot be denied that these two men have highlighted the flaws in our democracy. A democracy or dictatorship are equally useless if they are unable to solve the problems of the common man. Shockingly, the so-called intellectual and journalist community are opposing the setting up of this precedent that the common people would gather to dislodge a government in the future; if they act like a tyranny and fail to deliver the goods. Any conscientious citizen can see that we need a new system in Pakistan and the current one has failed time and time again. Undoubtedly, the old retirement-aged politicians should have mercy on Pakistan and retire peacefully. The new generation, which is more educated, should be given a chance to represent the people. Javed Hashmi’s recent incident of leaving Imran should be a lesson worth learning for Imran. He should not welcome lotas in his party and should invest in young blood. The Pakistan Army and the judiciary should not silently sit by as on-lookers while the countrymen suffer, they should step in and play an effective role in the resolution of the current crisis.
