Streak of violence: Two bodies found in Hangu

Two suspected militants arrested during raid in Bannu.

HANGU/BANNU: Two bodies, including that of a policeman, were found from different areas of Hangu on Friday, while another man was killed in a road accident.

Hangu DSP Falak Nawaz Bangash said the police recovered the body of a man identified as Tasnim, an official of the elite force, from Muhammad Khawaja, within the limits of Cantonment police station. He was reportedly gunned down by unidentified assailants. Bangash said the policeman was not in uniform and added the body bore several marks of torture.

The DSP said another body was found from Qazi Pump area. An autopsy of the deceased identified him as Afsar Hussain, a resident of Lachi, Kohat. He was also said to have been killed by unidentified assailants.

Meanwhile, a person identified as Moulvi Hussain Jan was en route on his motorcycle in Qazi Pump area when a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction rammed into him, killing him on the spot. The truck driver managed to escape.

Meanwhile in Bannu, two suspected militants were arrested by security forces in a raid at Commerce College in Bannu Township on Thursday. According to a security official, they received several intelligence reports indicating the presence of militants in the area, following which they carried out the successful raid.

The official added the suspects tried to escape when security forces arrived, as a result of which the troops opened fire and injured one of the alleged militants.

The suspects, identified as Danish and Noshad from Haiderkhel in North Waziristan, were shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation. It is said both men are associates of Tehreek-e-Taliban commander Aryana.
