ISLAMABAD: Though the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s sit-ins have not fallen short of surprises, the torment climaxed  on Wednesday when participants of the protests were seen digging their own graves.

Tired of paying hefty electricity bills, a disappointed PTI supporter stood near the Parliamentary Lodges digging his own grave. He, however, was not alone in this task.

“I’m fed up of the prime minister’s fake promises and have dug my own grave,” said a tired Lala.

A labourer in Peshawar, Lala has two children to feed, a monthly house rent of Rs5,000 and a Rs960 electricity bill from his meager income and blames the government for his misery.

“Nawaz Sharif tells lies. He promised the power tariffs would be reduced in a couple of months and then he said it will take five years for the prices to be reduced. Nawaz also told us he’d reduce flour prices but never did”.

To convey that the government was running out of time the PTI workers started digging their own graves.

Despite the hard times the participants are not ready to accept anything less than Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s resignation.  “I will stop digging my grave when Nawaz Sharif resigns – and if he doesn’t, I’ll immolate myself and send the world a message”.

Though the graves were later in the evening covered on the orders of PTI chairman Imran Khan the participants rest assured that it was enough to send a symbolic message to the government.

“It was a symbolic protest but we are sure that the tyranny of PML-N government is about to die and will go to these graves,” said Faisal Khan, a PTI supporter from Mansehra. The workers and supporters also brought shrouds and performed ablution—an indication that they were ready to lay down their lives for their cause.

“We are here to die for our country. We came out of our homes wearing shrouds and we want to embrace martyrdom,” said another PTI supporter Muhammad from Peshawar. “We are tired of this injustice and disparity.”

IK is a victim of narcissistic rigidification.

IK as a politician stands exposed. He is absolutely fine as a person but can he be trusted as a leader who is, otherwise, full of passions but without any wit? He is steering the crowd for an illogical and unconstitutional demands, which if accepted will pave the way for anarchy throughout the country.
