Pot calling kettle black?

Letter August 26, 2014
I believe it is Imran Khan who has to grow a conscience, since this so-called revolution can lead to nothing but chaos

ISLAMABAD: This is apropos Amin Hussain’s response to Taj Haider’s article titled ‘’Pot calling the Kettle Black’’.

Indeed, the PPP is quite shrewd, but it really has to be. The PTI, on the other hand, needs to have a much deeper understanding of political shrewdness.

Mr Hussain’s comment about the artful manipulation and omission of facts by the PPP is rather absurd. The PPP actually accepted the cruel denouement of the 2013 elections for the continuity of the democratic system, a system threatened and shunned by so-called revolutionaries like Imran Khan.

No one can deny the fact that the TTP played a role in dampening the PPP’s election campaign whereas Imran Khan enjoyed impunity due to the PTI’s support of the TTP under the veil of dialogue.

Strangely, Mr Hussain has pointed out weddings in the Sindh Assembly compound but has conveniently forgotten to discuss the ‘farce’ of revolution unleashed in Islamabad, that has been never before seen in the history of Pakistan.

If we look at the matter historically, it has always been the PPP that has been ostracised and has had to face hardships at the hands of the establishment. We have seen this many a time: in 1988, 1990 and 1997. In 1988, despite all the rigging, the PPP won the people’s mandate. On the other hand, who supported the military coup of 1999 and happened to be the biggest supporter of a dictatorial regime? Yes, you guessed right, Imran Khan.

I believe it is only Imran Khan who has to grow a conscience, because this so-called revolution can lead to nothing but chaos.
