Attention of media diverted

The marathon coverage of the dharnas by the PTI and the PAT has shifted away focus from the sorry plight of the IDPs .

ISLAMABAD: With the political showdown in the capital, activities in other parts of the country seem to have come to a halt. At least this is the impression one gets if one sees the media, especially the TV channels. The marathon coverage of the dharnas by the PTI and the PAT has shifted away focus from the sorry plight of the IDPs caused by the operation in North Waziristan.

Earlier, the media was concentrating on this important issue and this in turn was making the government pay adequate attention to it so that the affected people were at least being helped to some extent.

However, with the onset of the Azadi and Inquilab marches, these images seem to have disappeared from our TV screens. I would request the media not to give excessive coverage to the goings-on in Islamabad and also continue to provide viewers with reports on the IDP crisis since this is a very important matter.
