Media watch is a daily round-up of key articles featured on news websites, hand-picked by The Express Tribune web staff.

Cricketer on the run

The episode reflected that, like so many others before him, the young man did not actually receive from the team the kind of reception a newcomer is entitled to. For the umpteenth time the incompetence of the Pakistan Cricket Board has been exposed. (dawn.com)

Running scared

It seems unlikely that he would concoct a story such as this. He was riding high having scored the winning runs in the last match he played in, and had not been connected to any ‘scandal’ thus far. If his story proves to be true and he is able to corroborate its primary elements, then far from being deflected the fingers of criminal deception and corruption are still able to reach deep within the body of Pakistan cricket. Cricket SOS

If his claims are true, then alarm bells should be ringing at the International Cricket Council (ICC) headquarters and across the cricketing world. No matter what, a sport is not and cannot be more important than the life of a professional player. The ICC must extend all possible resources available in aid of Zulqarnain Haider.  (dailytimes.com.pk)

ICC urges players to speak up

Lorgat said Haider made a mistake by not informing the ACSU of the threats. “I don’t think it was wise of him to have done what he did, because it doesn’t solve the problems for him as well and the right thing would have been to speak to the ACSU,” said the ICC chief executive. Riaz | 13 years ago | Reply Cricket is rotten to the core. bookies are incharge of the whole thing. Forget about Pakistan cricket it has been dead since 1992. Ijaz works for the men who work for the bookies. If anyone has watched even one investigative movie then they will concur that the selection of Adnan Akmal as a wicket keep is a clear evidence of bookies 's single handed choke hold of Pakistan cricket. Zulqarnain is paying the price and will pay a dear price for his love for his country. Since he was not killed he will be financially ruined .....all players like razaq and afridi knew if they won the fifth odi they will be out of the team so they kept their jobs and lost as expected.
