ISLAMABAD: With their respective deadlines ending, the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led by Dr Tahirul Qadri and Imran Khan respectively have taken their protests to the next level by starting their march towards the Parliament House. Though senior government officials have once again extended the off offer of talks to both parties with the hope of resolving the matter before it escalates any further.

The 48-hour deadline of PTI expired on Tuesday evening following which PTI started to march towards the Parliament House.

Dr Tahirul Qadri, who had called his supporters to be ready at 5pm on Tuesday, synced their march towards the Parliament House with that of the PTI march.

Facing the prospect of dealing with protests by the PAT and PTI together in front of the Parliament, government officials reiterated late on Tuesday that they were ready to talk with both leaders and resolve the impasse.

Cranes, which the PTI had brought to the site, have started to move towards the containers placed at the edge of the Red Zone.

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

August 19, 8:13pm

Responding to Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar’s comments that the PTI chief had vowed not to cross into the Red Zone, Imran admitted that he had promised that but he added that Nisar was also told that once the two-day deadline expires, he would not be able to control this agitated crowd who would march into the Red Zone without him.

“If it wasn’t for me, the people would have already marched into the Red Zone.”

“We will turn the Red Zone into a Green Zone.”

He says the idea to deploy police to stop his supporters is futile since they cannot be stopped. “Do you think that we will go there and come back? How long can you [supporters] stay there?”

“The longer you [Nawaz] stay, the more difficult we will make your life.”

Imran says that they will not pay taxes till Nawaz resigns.

“We are all rebels, rebels against Nawaz Sharif,” says Imran before comparing Nawaz Sharif to Hosni Mubarak.

Imran Khan asks his supporters if they are ready to march into the Red Zone. He reiterates that he does not want violence and unrest.

But he warns that the government has punctuated the road further with ‘Gullu Butts’ and that these Gullu Butts will try to create violence.

“Nawaz Sharif, listen to what I have to say, if there is any violence, I will not spare you. If you try and hide in London, I will find you there and you will have no place to hide.”

Shortly after sparking up a conversation with our correspondent, a huge crowd gathered and grabbed the bottle from the boy’s hands and poured it all out on the ground. Q: SK Niazi @skniazi7 Which one, PAT or PTI is more of a threat for the government?

MZ: None of the two. Both have brought few thousand protestors to Islamabad and demanding the government to go home. Such unconstitutional demands do not pose any serious threat to the government.

Q: Faizan Yousaf asks Why do you think the government has not used force to handle this chaos?

MZ: Both PTI and PAT have the democratic right to take out protest rallies, launch long marches and sit ins. That is why force has not been used. Of course if they break the written agreement of not entering the Red Zone the the government has the legal right to use force but perhaps even then the government is likely to use the minimum force.

Q: And IF force is used, what consequences do you see for the government?

MZ: It is a political matter. The government needs to tackle it politically. If force is used then perhaps the government would lose its democratic right to rule.

    This is just ridiculous.
They need to stay in the system to fix it.
If they think they can fix the system through a revolution, they should have realized over the last few days that they dont have the numbers to do that.
Let me ask a few simple questions from PTI: How will you stop rigging in the next election when you arent even part of the election reforms conversation? If the next election is rigged, how will you ever come into power? I assume that in your answer, you will give me an answer that is within the ambits of democracy.
With age and the experience of Egypt’s Arab Spring, I have realized that all the passionate screaming for a perfect world is useless since you will never get a perfect world. You should be pragmatic and fix the system from the inside, even if this is a slow process. Yes you wont be a overnight hero but you will be someone who made the lives of millions better..
    Isnt it about the people???

But it does have a profound impact on Pakistan’s credit internationally, which hurts government’s ability to borrow money to fill in the deficit. He wouldn’t try to build a case for the Taliban while they continue to shed innocent blood all over the country. He wouldn’t ask people to stop paying tax in a bid to destabilize the state. He wouldn’t threaten to cut off Tarbela dam’s electricity to the people of Punjab. He wouldn’t retire to Banni Gala every day after he’s forced poor men and women out in the rain and heat. He wouldn’t force the KP Chief Minister by his side during this protest, leaving the KP government effectively rudderless. He wouldn’t make demands that are outside the remit of the constitution. Pakistan’s annual dismal showing in all statistics whether corruption, failed state, poverty, unemployment and inequality, have given IK and Qadri further ammunition to make the demands that would be unthought of in a democratic system. But Imran did exceptional to ruin his hard work of 18 years and the hope that most of the middle and upper middle class Pakistanis once held. what democracy are you talking about ? democracy in our country is ” for the ruler, by the ruler , to the ruler ” & it is for the select few, go & ask from 52 % who votes & whose votes are the most defining factor, ask them do they know “what democracy is ? ” they just vote for fear from the landlords, feudal lords, tribal leaders, waderas & baradari & that 52 % are the neglected ones once these vultures get elected. In democratic system, people have the right to freedom..ask the 52 %, are they free from the clutches of these waderas, landlords, tribal leaders ? In democracy, law is for all..do the elected ones, the rich & the elite follow law ? NO ! only it is for the poor & those 52 %…what democracy are you talking about, where the rich is getting richer by the day & poor getting poor…what democracy are you talking about where a citizen had petitioned in the SC about the details of President Hajj expense & it was turned down….what democracy are you talking about where in the govt is running without foreign minister & Law minister & many more important ministries….& if you justify, it is saving money, well ! the answer is, if it so, then why the expenses to run the govt has doubled than what the last govt was spending with much more ministers… and my dear the list is very long, similarly, what are you talking about election commission ? they are not free to take action as they would like in any country. They cannot reject any candidate for any reason as per rule although rules exist, they cannot verify statement of accounts, assets etc; submitted by the Political parties, candidates & Parliamentarians because election commission has no authority to verify but can only demand submission, the submission of accounts & details of assets are mandatory, but EC always has to announce extension but even then it is submitted late. In this case, EC has the right to disqualify those Parliamentarians who does not submit on time, but is not done for reasons best known to them, so what Election Commission are you talking about ? EC Chief is selected by only 2 Political parties, so it is obvious that there is no chance for free, fair & transparent election possible. Most of the Candidates submitted details during election are full of contradictions & in many cases false. Such action falls under article 62 & 63 which EC has the right to reject those application, but it is not complied by the EC…why ? What are you talking about Election tribunal ? they are supposed to settle complaints within 120 days after the election. Many cases are still not yet decided even after 14 month. IK demand for verification of 4 constituencies are not yet even heard because the other party PML N against whom complaint has been submitted, never attended. What are you talking about SC ? has it ever convicted any one from so many high profile cases ? IK also approached SC to hear their election complaint due to delay by EC, SC has not yet made even a 1st hearing…such attitude forced IK / PTI to do dharna & takeout rally…today Mr Nisar is ready to open 20 constituencies…what a joke ? then blaming IK for the mess is not right….if in the beginning the PML N had agreed to open 4 constituencies, what ever the result might have been ( most probably IK may be wrong ), but at least IK would have no face in front of the Public. Today, due to NS & PML N ego & arrogance, IK got chance to gather sympathy….consequently, the country image is damaged & loss of revenue continues…hence, the govt is only to be blamed…..the govt has exposed to be most politically immature….

At this point of time when PTI and PAT have already started towards entering Red Zone in Islamabad I simply cannot help pronouncing that New history book is being written down in Pakistan which is co-authored by Imran Khan and Dr Tahir Qadri where foreword is written by Mian Nawaz Sharif and eventually it will be included in our college education curriculum. Not a bad venture provided it is written in ink not blood. Iqbal Hadi Zaidi / Former Diplomat / Kuwait / [email protected]

I hate Imran Khan because he uses street language for others. May guide him towards the right path.

Balawal Bhutto is absolutely right. The conflict between IK and Sharifs are comitting political suicide and they will also kill the new born democracy.

Bigger rigging was done against PPP and ANP because these parties were not allowed to conduct election campaign by keeping them under pressure from attacks by Sharif and IK allies terrorist groups.

    Agreed
He must perform in the KPK . In coming elections people will decide, who performed better. Beside creating any anarchy in Pakistan, they must struggle for Electoral reforms along with JI.

WOW! Imran + Qadri have really entered Red Zone which most of people have thought that they will never ever even dare to think alike what to talk of physically reaching there. But they are proved wrong rather blatantly wrong to be honest. The most fortified area in whole of Pakistan is hosting Imran and Qadri guests. Congratulations to both Imran and Qadri.I must commend police also not to engage in any fight. Iqbal Hadi Zaidi / Former Diplomat / Kuwait / [email protected]Recommend

Interior Ministry control room is taken over by army rings 1st bell towards PM ouster meaning by Nisar has become redundant. Why did Nisar keep quiet? Shocking 4 those ministers who could face the same fate. Iqbal Hadi Zaidi / Former Diplomat / Kuwait

In what ages IK think he is living in ?
Say you take over the parliment , the presidential house.
Do you think you will become PM this way and your merry band of inqalibis parlimentarians ?
To oust NS you need to unfortunately follow a rulebook called constitution.
Gone are the days when you take over the kings castle and his empire and wealth is yours.
You should seriously think about Egypt Revolt , how many people were in that revolt 15 lakh to 20 lakh.
How many do you have 35000-45000.(not enough to win a seat in PA).Recommend

Let PTI members resign from their seats, then hold the elections against those seats. The result will tell who is the real winner out of this so called march to Islamabad.
    Is Mr IK listening?

“Army urges patience asks stake holders to resolve impasse via talks”
Emergency Corps Commanders’ conference few days ago results have started to be shown and this statement has never to be taken lightly by PML-N and other coalition political parties because army has showed its first card to resolve the issue thru talks and in case of failure every politician knows very well most especially importantly Nawaz Sharif that what shall be the next cards of army when army will show???
