Domestic cricket structure

Letter August 18, 2014
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants to change the country’s domestic cricket structure.

KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants to change the country’s domestic cricket structure. It wants to end the system of department teams and wants the competition to be instead structured along regional teams.

The PCB should change the regional association election system in which two groups are in contest for the post of president, secretary and treasurer because if that is not done, the same group of people will run the association for years. The voting system should also be changed so that instead of the current club vote for a team, players exercise this right. For example, a player who has played cricket for Karachi could vote to decide the set-up of the Karachi City Cricket Association. The same rule should apply to other games also.
