Drowning tragedy (II)

Letter August 02, 2014
One hopes and prays that we will all learn from this and next year this will be avoided.

KARACHI: The drowning tragedies at Karachi’s beaches in which 34 people lost their lives could have been avoided had the city administration done its job of warning people in advance, and had the general public shown the civic sense to avoid situations which could seriously endanger their lives.

Who’s fault is it? The city administration’s which didn’t warn the revellers in time? Or the police which failed miserably in preventing them? Or negligent parents who don’t train their children better to avoid the pitfalls of swimming in the open sea? Or the revellers themselves who failed to heed warnings?

One hopes and prays that we will all learn from this and next year this will be avoided.
