The question is that will it even be given to the culprit considering that he is related to a powerful landlord.
LAHORE: I fully endorse the views expressed by Col (retd.) Riaz Jafri in his letter published on July 28 under the heading “Arm for an arm” on the chopping off the arms of a boy by a landlord’s son in Gujrat. This kind of barbaric behaviour merits capital punishment for the perpetrator, not least because his actions have maimed the boy for life.
The punishment suggested by the colonel is the next best thing to capital punishment. However, the question is that will it even be given to the culprit considering that he is related to a powerful landlord. Ideally, such a punishment should be given and implemented so that others think twice before carrying out an equally heinous act.
