KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sent a legal notice to former South Africa coach Micky Arthur for his claims in which he suspected Pakistan team of match-fixing in a One-Day International (ODI) series three years ago.

The board’s legal adviser Tafazzul Rizvi said that Arthur was asked to provide evidence for his claim that a 2007 ODI was fixed or apologise.

“We’ve asked him to give evidence or make an apology for his comments,” Rizvi told The Express Tribune. “Arthur will have seven days to respond and if he fails to provide evidence or does not apologise, the PCB and the players reserve the right to start legal action against him.”

Arthur said his team suspected Pakistan of match-fixing when they lost the deciding match following a batting collapse. Rizvi said the PCB has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption but will not tolerate anyone making allegations about Pakistan cricket.

“We’ve had enough of these  damaging statements,” said the lawyer. “We’re in the process of finalising a legal notice for The Sun newspaper that alleged that the third one-day against England was fixed.”
