RAWALPINDI: This is with reference to Kamran Shafi’s article of July 25 titled “No.2436392 Sepoy Azam Ali”. I take an exception to his terming the cadets/officers of the Short Service Courses (after 1956 War, which includes me as well) as ‘Dhol Sipahiya courses’. I have one question to ask him.
If hundreds and thousands of us got motivated only by listening to Noor Jehan’s war songs and opted for the army, what was our motivation? Was it the salary, perks and privileges alone (batman included), and not for the country? At least we, the ‘Dhol Sipahiya’ ones were a motivated lot.
