In custody: LEAs arrest Raiwind attack mastermind

18 suspected militants from Punjab have also been detained.

LAHORE: Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) detained the alleged mastermind of the Raiwind operation, along with 18 suspected militants from different districts of Punjab, on Thursday.

A senior police officer claimed that the alleged mastermind of Raiwind attack, identified as Maulvi Ishaq, was arrested from Hujra Shah Muqeem in Okara district after a raid by security forces.

Ishaq has been taken to an undisclosed location for interrogation. Police officials have claimed that Maulvi Ishaq would train terrorists in Miramshah. He also provided financial support to terrorist networks, they added.

Sources revealed that three other suspected militants were also arrested during the raid. They added that Maulvi Ishaq had a training centre in Miramshah and LEAs are likely to arrest more suspects.

Security forces also conducted operations in Okara, DG Khan, Lahore, Islamabad, Lahore and Rahim Yar Khan.

According to security forces sources, several suspects, including two women who were linked to the attack, have been detained.

Meanwhile, the owner of the motorcycles which were impounded during Raiwind operation has been traced. According to sources, motor bikes were registered in the name of Hafiz Imran, a resident of Lahore, and were being used by militants.

Police conducted a raid on Hafiz Imran’s residence. However, he had already fled the locality with his family.
