Registration of IDPs begins in Peshawar

FDMA spokesperson says registration centre has been set up, where registration will continue till 3pm every day.

PESHAWAR: The registration of internally displaced persons (IDPs), who migrated from North Waziristan due to the military operation against terrorists, started in Peshawar on Monday.

Fata Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) spokesperson told APP that a registration centre has been set up at Government College of Commerce and Management Sciences No 2, where registration of IDPs will continue till 3pm every day.

The spokesperson said that IDPs from Miramshah will be registered on the first day, IDPs from Boya and Datta Khel will be registered on July 8, those from Mir Ali on July 9, those from Dosali and Garyum on July 10 while IDPs from Razmak and Shawal on July 11, those from Ghulam Khan on July 12 and the remaining families will be registered on July 14.

The registration of IDPs from southern districts was also underway in Bannu where three registration centres have been established. The IDPs of southern districts can register themselves at Government Commerce College Bannu, Centennial Model School Bannu Government High School No 4 and Bannu Sugar Mills registration centres.

IDPs from Mir Ali, Razmak and Miramshah sub divisions can register themselves at these registration centres in Bannu from July 3 to 15.

The staffs of FDMA and line departments are assisting IDPs in registration process.  The government has made elaborate arrangements for security, provision of ration and non-food items to each registered dislocated family. Electricity was also provided to IDPs camps besides water coolers, fans and non-food items.

Specialist doctors and paramedics are also assisting the civil administration by providing free of cost medical services to the IDPs.

The FDMA spokesperson said that the government was determined to get every IDP registered to ensure speedy distribution of relief goods and other services so that no family was deprived of the facilities.

Rescue 1122 has provided three state-of-the-art ambulances along with staff to help IDPs in case of any emergency.

All the district commissioners have been directed by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to constitute district level committees to collect relevant information about the displaced persons residing with their relatives and in rented buildings. This data will be used for security as well as provision of relief and cash to IDPs.

The government has directed Public Health Engineering Department to ensure clean drinking water facilities in the camps. Additional vehicles were also placed at the disposal of district administration Bannu to ensure quick relief to the displaced people.
