Afghan President Hamid Karzai has urged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to release all leaders of the Afghan Taliban willing to join the peace process, Karzai’s office said late Saturday while revealing the contents of his letter to the Pakistani premier.
The letter was handed over to Nawaz by Karzai’s top security adviser during the latter’s one-day trip to Islamabad on Thursday.
“Pakistan had sought Afghanistan’s cooperation with regards to the ongoing North Waziristan operation. President Karzai conveyed Afghanistan’s conditions and proposals to Pakistan, to jointly fight against terrorism,” Karzai’s office said.
“I will cooperate on the condition that, (1) all terrorists are targeted without discrimination, (2) civilians are not harmed in the fight against terror, (3) Pakistan releases all detained Afghan Taliban leaders who support peace in Afghanistan, (4) all terrorist hideouts and support centres are eliminated, (5) Pakistan stops artillery shelling on Afghan territory, (6) Pakistan and Afghanistan coordinate their anti-terrorism efforts with important regional nations like India and China, (7) there should be a roadmap for bilateral coordination and contact to take the war on terror forward,” Karzai wrote in the letter.

Pitching in cooperation request seems to be a very good diplomatic tactic to measure the depth of water... talking about the India's existance in Afganistan - lets leave it in the hands of our Chinese friends since they know how to handle them and show them the path :)

There is no need of such demand . Pakistan has to do accordingly or will get perished , Iraq like condition we will also not like to exist in our neighbourhood . Pak army is now resolving her past mistakes and seems to be ready to go to any extent . She is also enjoying support of elected government in this regard .

Any comments on Brahmin-dominated Indian military & its shenanigans. I believe there is a reason why when one asks an Indian(in US) if you are an Indian, he/she blurts , "No I am from Tamil Nadu". So, lets have some insight into India's internal affairs too.
In another news, Afghan forces are defeated in Helmand province. Reality is that they cannot defend themselves after NATO pull out. If they think India will make the mistake of sending its army where Russia and NATO forces struggle they are mistaken big time. Last option is to have cordial relationship with Pakistan, so both countries can fight it out. Putting conditions like make India ally on something which India has nothing to do will not benefit any of us.

The first two of the above mentioned conditions set out by Afghanistan are a damning indictment of Pakistan. The Afghan Government clearly recognises the treacherous track record of Pakistan of supporting some Islamic Terrorist groups while opposing other Islamic Terrorists Groups and is astutely taking measures to forestall Pakistani treachery. Recognition of Pakistani capability for treachery seems to be programmed into Afghan DNA. Afghan Taliban leader, Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef, famously said “Pakistan, which plays a key role in Asia, is so famous for treachery that it is said they can get milk from a bull. They have two tongues in one mouth, and two faces on one head so they can speak everybody’s language; they use everybody, deceive everybody.” He then goes on to detail Pakistan’s treacherous perfidious behaviour at some length.
Regards the third Afghan condition, namely roping in India that should be the stuff of nightmares to Pakistan.

Reasonable request. Boils down to freeing people who want peace, eliminating sanctuaries, targeting all terrorist, and coordinating anti terror activities with all neighbors. The fact that Sharif was reluctant to disclose content tells you that he isn't going to comply.

(of course army should not only win this war but also win the hearts of people too. Pakistan a very strong state is a very week nation,need to save it from disintegration. That's fine, Pakistan should tell Karzai messenger to stick the demands up his bosses behind....Pakistan will do what's in its interest and let Karzai care about India and China.
Simply Pakistan can't trust Karzai...the last condition involving India is itself an evidence that Karzai is deeply anti Pakistan. These conditions itself says that we will continue supporting all anti Pakistan forces by providing them money , shelter etc simply to kill and destroy Pakistani public and meanwhile he mentions no civilians (he is not mentioning Pakistani civilians) should be harmed during anti terror war is itself a signal that Karzai has the same old desire of his old Afghan rulers of fanning Pashtun nationalism and fulfilling their dream to make Indus river as a Boundary between Pakistan And Afghanistan. This was openly wished by current so Called army chief of Afghanistan. Solution is simple for Pakistan dont expect anything from Karzai or karzai spoons rather follow a hard line approach against TTP bases, TTP sympathisers and splinter groups by making Special task force and special war time military courts along with a good policing and anti terror law. If there is cross border attack from Afghanistan use your millitary powers to capture Wakkhan corridor and Kunar province and use them as bargain chip to extradite fazllulah, Mangal bagh , khurasani and all other anti Pak terrorists.
Pakistan can not stop artillery shelling in Afghanistan if it aids and abets terrorists.
As regards to having India in this process, I am sorry but it won't happen, the rest will have to be reciprocated and false allegations shouldn't be made against Pakistan.

Why is Karzai so concerned about getting India involved in an issue that is a concern of Afghanistan & Pakistan & has nothing to do with india. Secondly to show his good will he should seal of the border from Afghan side so that no TTP member can escape into afghanistan.
Id say do the complete opposite of what he is asking and we would have peace in this region. Thie guy can hardly control 1 sq km territory of Kabul on his own neither he is ever thankful for pakistan taking caring or millioms of Afghans on its territory over humanitarian grounds. Yet he speaks to us as if we owe him something. His days of being a US puppet is counted already.

This is what happens when you have a simpleton prime minister who doubles as a foreign minister. Pakistan should set a price for agreeing to afghan demands and it should include complete repatriation of 6 million afghan refugees and payment of rent for hosting them for all these years at the rate of USD 120 per afghan per month.
And what about the terrorist hideouts of TTP in Afghanistan ? Mr. Karzai is dictating the way as indians do.
I congratulate President Karzai of Afghanistan for imposing the humane and statesmanlike condition that Afghanistan’s co-operation is conditional upon Pakistan ensuring that Pathan “civilians are not harmed in the fight against terror”.
Citizens of Pakistan must also now do their bit and demand that the Punjabi dominated Military of Pakistan cease and desist from resort to the use of disproportionate force by use of indiscriminate tools of coercion like Artillery and Aerial bombing strikes targeting the hapless Pathans. Such use of disproportionate and indiscriminate force inevitably creates a humanitarian crisis.
Pakistan, especially the Punjabi dominated Military which is obsessed with comparing themselves with India, should follow India’s example. India combats Islamic Terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir without use of disproportionate and indiscriminate tools of coercion like Artillery and Aerial bombing.
Punjabi dominated Pakistani Military should stop thinking like an occupying Military force such as the US Military in Afghanistan and think like a National Army operating in a counter insurgency role on her own territory like the case of the Indian Army in Jammu & Kashmir.
If the thought of emulating Non-Muslims is unpalatable to the Punjabi dominated Military then they should recall that the Pathan’s are also Muslims.
Such a change in mindset of Punjabi dominated Pakistani Military will result in eschewing the use of disproportionate and indiscriminate tools of coercion like Artillery and Aerial bombing and mitigate/prevent IDP problem.
