KARACHI: The hearing of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) case, which is being fought between the Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) ministry, Zaka Ashraf and several other petitioners, has now been moved to June 25.

It has been learnt that Ashraf’s counsel is not in Pakistan these days, which is why the hearing has been delayed for the second time.

The original date of June 12 had already been extended to June 18 on the same grounds, and now it has been moved ahead for another week as Ashraf’s lawyer Afnan Kundi has yet to return from abroad.

The case was moved to the Supreme Court (SC) by the IPC Ministry in May to seek a stay against the order of Islamabad High Court (IHC), which had reinstated Zaka Ashraf as the chairman of the PCB.

After the stay, the day-to-day affairs have been handled by current Chairman Najam Sethi, who has to attend an International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting in the coming days as well.

When relevant PCB officials close to the case were asked whether Sethi could attend the ICC meeting with the case pending in court, one of them said, “Sethi is currently the chairman until the case is concluded, so he can take decisions and can attend the ICC meetings as well.”
