Embezzling public funds: Three teachers held for ‘cheating’

The anti-corruption police has arrested three teachers of the Battagram education department along with a former education official and clerk in Kohistan for alleged misappropriation of school funds.


Ejaz Goga, assistant director of the Hazara Anti-Corruption Department, told journalists on Friday that the anti-corruption police arrested three primary school teachers, identified as Afsar Muhammad, Wali Muhammad and Faiz, for drawing the salary of a school guard who was on leave out of the country.


The victim, Naeem, was deprived of Rs500,000 of compounded salaries. The assistant director informed that in Kohistan, a former EDO (education), identified as Mukhtiyar, and senior clerk Abdul Hakeem were arrested for embezzling Rs700,000 during the purchase of TV sets.
