ISLAMABAD: Dignity is not something that is ‘earned’ — it is instead a right of all people in all circumstances. But unfortunately, not many people seem to be getting this right. Visit any police station, public place, market, educational institution or court complexes and you will learn that the question of human dignity is barely given any importance.
People are humiliated and harassed by public officials and made to wait for long hours in queues. Often, secretaries and clerks in government offices are disrespectful and tend to assume that they are doing the citizens a favour by providing them services. This attitude needs to change.
