Lahore High Court promotes 80 judges

Committee orders disciplinary action against five judges.

The administration committee of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday promoted 80 district judges and ordered disciplinary action against five judicial officers on various charges.


Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial presided over the meeting that promoted 19 additional district and sessions judges (AD&SJ) to the rank of district and sessions judges, and 26 senior civil judges to the rank of additional district and sessions judge; 35 civil judges were made senior civil judges.

The judicial officials promoted to the rank of district and sessions judges are Subhan Sadiq Khan, Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Arshad Ali, Haroon Latif Khan, Muhammad Qasim, Muhammad Saeedullah, Muhammad Akmal Khan, Ashtar Abbas, Rehan Bashir, Muhammad Khalil Naz, Nadeem Gulzar, Muhammad Ibrahim Asghar, Khalid Arshad, Malik Khalid Mahmood, Bushra Zaman, Lubna Ali, Muhammad Shafiq Chaudhry, Mumtaz Hussain and Muhammad Zulfiqar Lone.

Those made AD&SJs are Abdul Razzaq, Syed Nasir Bukhari, Abid Ali, Ijaz Ali, Javed Iqbal Bosal, Muhammad Altaf, Shafqatullah Khan, Mubashar Nadeem Khan, Iftikhar Ahmad, Mumtaz Ahmad, Khalid Saeed Wattoo, Ashfaq Ahmad, Ahmad Kamran, Mansoor Ahmad Qureshi, Muhammad Saeed Rafiq, Imtiaz Nadeem, Muhammad Yasir Nadeem Razzaq, Muhammad Zubair, Hamid Mahmood Khan, Syed Azhar Ali Jafri, Atiqur Rehman, Malik Shafiq Ahmad, Iftikharun Nabi, Muhammad Ajmal Khan Raja, Muhammad Sher Abbas and Irfan Ahmad Sheikh.

The civil judges promoted to the rank of senior civil judges are Muhammad Asif Rana, Mahmood Hayat, Wasim Ahmad, Muhammad Riaz, Muhammad Yasir Arafat, Muhammad Tariq Ayub, Khizar Hayat, Tariq Mahmood Rana, Gul Abbas, Muhammad Umar, Muhammad Amir Munir, Muhammad Tariq, Shahbaz Hussain, Khalil Ahmad Khan, Muhammad Asif, Ghulam Shabbir Hussain, Tahir Abbas Sipra, Muhammad Naeem, Muhammad Ashraf, Ambreen Qureshi, Tajammul Hussain, Mian Javaid Akram, Muhammad Asif, Naveed Akhtar, Masroor Anwar Khan, Sahir Islam, Shaukat Javed Khan, Muhammad Asim, Jamshed Mubarik, Hassan Ahmad, Akleem Raza, Jahangir Ali Gondal, Iftikhar Hussain, Nadeem Hussain and Muhammad Ayaz.

The disciplinary proceedings pending against D&SJ (r)Altaf Hussain Altaf were abated.

Proceedings were initiated under Section 12 of the Punjab Civil Servants Act, 1974, against ADSJs Shahid Mahmood, Haji Ahmad, Khwaja Muhammad Ajmal, Malik Muhammad Nawaz Samtiah, Mehboob Ahmad Khan, Muhammad Riaz Chopra, Shahid Mahmud and Malik Riaz Ahmad Khokhar; Senior Civil Judges Fayaz Ahmad Zaheer and Kabir Ahmad and Civil Judges Shaukat Ali Khan, Mujahid Abbas Sohail and Muhammad Anwar Ali.

The LHC committee initiated proceedings under the Punjab Civil Servants (E&D) Rules, 1999, against AD&SJs Tamar Hayat Gondal, Malik Munir Ahmad Joyia and Sadaqatullah Khan; Senior Civil Judge Malik Abid Hussain and Civil Judge Sajida Ahmad. The committee also accepted the resignation of Civil Judge Asif Nadeem Ashiq. Promotion cases of 25 judges were deferred.
