4-day training: IFJ and PFUJ workshop for journalists

IFJ acting director Jain Warthintun and Ujal Achar will conduct the 4-day workshop.

KARACHI: A training workshop for journalists organised jointly by International Federation for Journalists (IFJ) and Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) started on Sunday. The IFJ acting director Jain Warthintun and Ujal Achar will conduct the 4-day workshop. There will be special sessions on media monitoring, advocacy and women on the first day of the workshop.  The workshop was attended by a large number of journalists from far flung areas of Sindh and Balochistan including Quetta, Khuzdar, Qalat and Turbat.  The journalists were informed of the dangers they might face including that of targeted killing and terrorism. The acting director of IFJ said the journalists needed to ensure their safety while trying to access the facts. “Pakistan is on top of the list of countries where to perform journalistic duties is a dangerous task,” she said. The APNEC Central Chairman Nasir Naqvi, the PFUJ Secretary-General Amin Yousaf, the IFJ Adviser for Pakistan Pervaiz Shaukat, KUJ President GM Jamali and the KUJ General-Secretary Wajid Isphahani were also present at the occasion.
