PESHAWAR: A lady health worker was found dead in Koh-e-Daman village in the jurisdiction of Daudzai police station on Monday, Express News reported.

She was kidnapped from her house in Guluzai village in the jurisdiction area of Chamkani police station on the night of March 23.

The body of the worker, identified as Salma Farooq, bore torture marks as well.

Earlier on Monday, police had said that around eight armed men had entered the house of Farooq, held the family hostage at gunpoint and took the woman away with them.

Chamkani is a village located on the outskirts of Peshawar.

Enraged family members and neighbours had protested against the kidnapping and blocked the Peshawar-Islamabad motorway near Chamkani for about an hour today. The protesters had dispersed when police assured them that they will try their best to locate Farooq.

The demonstrators had given two days time to police to recover the kidnapped health worker.

The family members had feared that Farooq was kidnapped because of her involvement in the polio campaign and that she had no enmity with anyone.

    It is such a sad state of affairs, that a person has to risk ones own life in this country to make even such nominal contributions to the country. So cheap is life and so noteworthy is rhetoric. I hope she is found alive and well soon. And i hope the state begins to value life above all else as it should be.Recommend

    I wonder what soul are these savages made of! There’s no such place on earth that is entirely pure but there are few that follow strict laws against the wrong doers. Sadly we are not among them.

    @Sad:
    Poverty leads to very astonishing acts by human beings ….
    – imagine the poor Sheeda from Chak 3RR worrying whether he will earn today enough to buy some food for his family’s evening meal. But he remembers also – he would have to save something from it to bear the cost for the treatment of his ill daughter by a doctor in the next village.
    – and now imagine the elite Rasheed Sb. getting into his BMW and speeding away to the next McDonalds to get a Big Mac with Chicken Nuggets for himself and a Happy Meal each for his children. And ya – not to forget to book the next flight to London for his daughter’s checkup because she has a flu.
    – and now ask yourself what chances you have being poor – whom to blame for one’s miserable state – and what to do against it??!! Thinking of it like this – the chances that you get spun into doing wrongs for just some mere money increase all of a sudden ….
