LAHORE:

The Pakistan men’s kabaddi team has geared up its preparations for the upcoming Pakistan-India Punjab Games. The second phase of the training camp began on Monday at the Punjab Stadium under the supervision of head coach Ghulam Abbas Butt.

Babar Gujjar, Lala Obaidullah, Shafiq Chishti, Shahzad Ahmed Dogar, Khalid Mehar, Saifullah, Matloob Ahmed, M Rizwan, Waqas Gujjar, Mohsin Naseem and Khalid Ahmed are among those training.

Butt said all the players were fit and in good form. “They are being trained in two practice sessions daily. Flaws in their game are being removed through practice matches,” he said. Butt added that he had particularly great expectations from Babar Gujjar and Lala Obaidullah.

Butt said the national women’s kabaddi team was also determined to give a tough time to their opponents. “Our women’s team lost the Kabaddi World Cup semi-final. They will try to win on their home ground” he added.

The tug-of-war players are also training for the competitions. Pakistan-India Punjab Games organising secretary and camp commandant Waqas Akbar said “The players are well prepared…sports fans on both sides will be very entertained”.
