The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has confiscated prohibited material from 15 cable operators, the PEMRA Assistant General Manager Faisalabad Muhammad Ali told The Express Tribune on Sunday.

“ Under PEMRA rules, no cable operator can air prohibited material or broadcast advertisements beyond the prescribed limits.

Many cable operators have been violating these rules and airing prohibited material”, he said.

Ali added that after repeated warnings, PEMRA had launched a crackdown against cable operators who were violating the regulations.

“Under this drive, the local PEMRA authorities conducted raids in Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Kamalia and Rajana.

They found 15 cable operators violating The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority rules. CDs containing prohibited material have been seized”, Ali said.
