Sports Board Punjab join hands with UK club

Aldershot Football FC to participate in Punjab Sports Festival in April.

KARACHI: The Sports Board Punjab (SBP) joined hands with England’s Aldershot Football FC, Hampshire on Wednesday.

SBP Secretary Usman Anwar and chairman of Aldershot FC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) before the Provincial Sports, Education and Youth Affairs Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan at a press conference in Lahore.

Aldershot FC will be part of the International Sports Festival 2014, scheduled to be held in April.

“The agreement signing is part of the Punjab government’s initiative to bring international sports back to Pakistan,” said Khan.

According to the MoU, the SBP will provide necessary assistance in conducting the matches, while assuring security, transport and accommodation to the Aldershot FC players. The club will arrange funds for travel to Lahore and back to the UK.

Aldershot FC will also promote the Punjab International Youth Festival 2014 among its affiliates in the UK.
