ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has said that launch of the next generation wireless networks and services would result in an increase in the the Average Revenue Per User (ARPU). After tough market competition and slow growth in the cellular industry, ARPU witnessed a slight decline to Rs211 per month during year 2012-13, compared to Rs217 during the corresponding period last year. According to PTA’s latest data, ARPU is a highly effective tool to gauge financial stability of any sector. Despite being low, Pakistan’s ARPU was almost double that in India during 2012-13. Cellular mobile operators can increase ARPU through additional data revenues by offering non-voice services like mobile banking and other associated offers.
