Tennis: Aisam-Bopanna through to round two

Pakistan’s Aisamul Haq Qureshi and India’s Rohan Bopanna started the Apia International Sydney Open on a winning note as they defeated Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau in the first round of their doubles match on Tuesday.


Aisam played his former doubles partner Rojer in the opener and the former and his partner defeated the unseeded pair in a tough encounter. They took the first set 7-6 (7-5), but lost to Rojer and Tecau 6-7 (7-2) in the second. The match went on to the tie-break, where Aisam and Bopanna sealed victory 10-7.


The Indo-Pak express will face Treat Huey and Dominic Inglot in the next round.
