Congress party on ventilator?

Letter January 06, 2014
It is a terrible shame that Congress, a 150-year-old political party, has destroyed itself so comprehensively.

CHICAGO: This is with reference to Aakar Patel’s article of January 5 “Manmohan Singh’s greatest disservice”. Creating fear cannot be a positive agenda and a ruling party must talk about its performance: where it succeeded and failed, and how the mistakes will be rectified if it is given another term. Manmohan Singh presided over the most corrupt government Indian history has ever known, a real shame in what is the world’s largest democracy. How miserable must have been the performance and public disenchantment that ordinary citizens have started supporting upstarts like the Aam Aadmi Party.

It is a terrible shame that the Congress, a 150-year-old political party, one of the oldest in the democratic world, has destroyed itself so comprehensively. Such a political legacy has taken the struggle of millions to build, but complacency, opportunism and sycophancy have put the Congress party on the ventilator.
