PESHAWAR: Six station house officers (SHO) of various police stations in Bannu district were suspended on Friday over allegations of corruption, smuggling and malpractice.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani issued the suspension orders after a preliminary investigation. SHOs of Domail, City, Cantonment, Saddar, Kakki and Miryan were suspended as several reports against them turned out to be true.

A statement issued from Durrani’s office stated action was taken after an initial inquiry was launched by senior police officials in Bannu. Durrani has now directed senior police officials of Mardan and DI Khan to proceed with a detailed inquiry against the suspended SHOs and submit a final report to him.

In his statement, Durrani said no police official will be allowed to indulge in any illegal activity and those found guilty will not be spared. The province’s top cop had earlier suspended the SHO of Mundan police station in Bannu on charges of violence against two people, and filed a case against him on the complaint of a citizen.
