Government should return all the tax money that has been paid over the past 66 years by honest taxpayers.
KARACHI: This is with reference to your editorial of December 20 titled “How not to manage the economy”.
The present finance minister is doing the same thing his predecessors have done many times: giving amnesty to tax evaders, instead of catching gas/electricity thieves, smugglers and those indulging in income tax/sales tax evasion. Since the only way to collect taxes appears to be to give amnesty to tax evaders, the government should return all the tax money that has been paid over the past 66 years by honest taxpayers, in accordance with the principles of natural justice.
