KARACHI: Central anti-corruption court on Wednesday issued a warrant for the arrest of Sindh Chief Minister's daughter Naheed Durrani, Express News reported.
Express News correspondent Shakir Sultan reported that the arrest warrant was issued because Naheed Durrani failed to appear in court on multiple occasions during a case related to import-export in which the Federal Investigation Agency had nominated her as a witness.
The court has now ordered the FIA to arrest Durrani and present her in court on December 11.
Durrani, a CSS qualified officer, is said to be one of the most powerful bureaucrats in the present set-up, and has previously served as Secretary Education, Secretary Finance and Secretary Planning and Development for Sindh.
Clarification: Further probe in the matter relating to issuance of non- bailable warrants against Naheed Shah Durrani revealed she was a prosecution witness in the case and not one of the accused. The court had issued summons calling for filing of a security bond for ensuring her appearance on December 11, 2013. Durrani had appeared for recording her evidence on November 12, 2013 when she was called for the first time, and on this date the case was adjourned. Subsequently two dates of the hearing were fixed within the next 20 days and it was nonappearance on these two hearings that led to the calling for filing of a surety bond of Rs5,000.

1) You morons,she was nominated as a witness and not as the accused. 2) She is not a corrupt bureaucrat like her father. In fact Miss Naheed Shah is a well-respected and hard-working philanthropist who has fought hard to revive the failing education system in Pakistan.In doing so, she even came in clash with her father and other corrupt officials who clearly do not enjoy the company of those who wish to lead this country to progress. 3) The court failed to inform of the correct hearing date due to which this situation occurred.Even though technically it is not her burden to serve as a witness.
Very poor media reporting. You made an honest and honourable lady sound like a criminal. Stupider still are the comments who opt to brand someone else for the sins of their fathers and fore-fathers, even though our religion clearly condemns us from doing so!
@Mirza. I agree with your comment but our CJ himself is to be blamed. He has lost all credibility and respect due to his own doings, and sadly the people in Pakistan have sometimes no choice left but to resort to vigilante justice.

In a country where the CJ of SC keeps ordering the generals to present disappeared persons for months and they do not obey his orders this is a storm in a teacup. How many times the CJ has given final notices to the govt officials and each time they did not honor the orders, the CJ gave yet another final notice just to be neglected again and again. In fact the FC chief had refused to appear before the CJ. The lady is only a witness not the criminal and she would obtain bail from Sindh HC. This is only adventurism and sensationalism to fool the public that these special anticorruption courts are actually doing something useful.

She deserved this, she should be handcuffed or hanged, all I care. Her being CSS qualified is not impressive enough as far as I'm concerned, after all who doesn't know how these corrupt to the core offspring of the powerful get such qualifications and postings. Having said this, I want such attitude by the authorities without any discrimination, all such arrogant and corrupt people must be treated exactly as the law stipulates. They must be dragged down to the level where they think only the ordinary citizens belong, no one is above law and law must assert itself.

Everytime the Sharif family is in power, they manipulate government machinery to target Sindhi officials, while continuing to protect corrupt and incompetent punjabi officers who seem to get away with murder, as long as they are friends of the Sharif brothers. I think the video of Nawaz Sharif crying like a woman in jail should be sent to him again as he seems be drunk with power already, which means he has not learnt anything in the years he was in exile and out of politics. Somethings never change unfortunately and the Sharif family is proof of the same.
She is a respectable woman and a competent Government Officer. I hope this matter will be resolved.

The Sharif's better beware, they are trying to settle political scores with Sindhi leaders, Sindhi government officials, retired Sindhi federal officers, and even Sindhi judges and business professionals. Do not forget Nawaz Sharif, if you continue to show your prejudice against Sindhis alone, while your Punjabi corrupt brothers and cousins and friends continue to make hay while the sun shines, eventually your power grasp will come to an end and we may see a replay of you behind bars in Attock jail, crying like a baby because mosquitos are biting you.
She makes me sick for defying the courts of law, when they are meant to uphold the law. That's why Pakistan is in doo-doo.
Why don't the people of Pakistan understand that these people are above the law and the constitution of the country. The laws are made by the same very elite for the common people and it seems that there is this manice of corruption in every sector and institutions including the armed forces. The judge of the Central anti-corruption court should not hold his breath because there will be some repercussions for his decision. She is not involved in any corruption. When a witness fails to appear in a court, such warrants are issued. Its strange witness is made an example, but the person who is destroying economy, trade and paving way for future sanctions is being hailed as a Hero.
Courts are in habit of harassing law abiding citizens & those who respect them. This in not news but habit of ch judiciary.
