GHALLANAI: Three security officials were killed and two others injured in an attack on a convoy of paramilitary troops in the Baizai sub-division of Mohmand Agency on Saturday.

Assailants opened fire on a convoy of Frontier Constabulary soldiers as they were transporting food to their check post in the Baizai division.

Militants launched the attack around 3:00pm just as the soldiers were walking to the hilly area of Yara Khel near the Pak-Afghan border, security officials said.

Three officials died on the spot, while two others were injured and shifted to a hospital in Peshawar on a helicopter. A search operation was immediately conducted in the area.

The Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Mohmand claimed responsibility for the attack which was carried with the help of rocket launchers.

Last week, TTP Mohmand also claimed responsibility for the killing of officials of the khasadar force in an IED attack in the Dawizai area of Mohmand Agency.
