NUST convocation: Engineering grads urged to tackle challenges

Degrees awarded to 72 engineering graduates.

ISLAMABAD:

Prospective engineers have been urged to take on challenges and transform them into golden opportunities.

Karam Green Energy Chief Executive Officer Sohail Wajahat Siddiqui said this on Saturday while speaking at the second convocation of the School of Chemical and Materials Engineering of the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST).

As many as 72 graduates were awarded degrees in the discipline of chemical and materials engineering. President’s gold medals were awarded to Anum Shafique in chemical engineering and Tooba Shoaib in materials engineering. Rector’s gold medals for best projects were awarded to Ume Salma Danish Khan in chemical engineering and Tooba Shoaib in materials engineering.

Siddiqui said that the knowledge that the students gain at universities serve as a driving force for our industry and economy.

He advised the students to keep gaining knowledge and professional expertise and pay back to society as much they could. Siddiqui stressed the need for developing academia-industry linkages.

NUST Rector Engr Muhammad Asghar said it was a matter of pride for the institute to have been able to produce its second batch of chemical and materials engineering graduates.

He said that the SCME was undergoing a rapid evolutionary growth by offering undergraduate, MS and PhD programmes in the field of engineer. A large number of students, parents and faculty members attended the ceremony.
