Aftab, Anwar heroics help HBL draw against UBL

Batsmen put up 207-run stand on day four of President’s Trophy tie.

KARACHI: Aftab Alam and Jamal Anwar helped HBL register an unlikely draw against UBL as they put up a 207-run stand for the seventh-wicket to keep their opponents at bay in their President’s Trophy match at the Marghzar Ground in Islamabad.

HBL started day four on 60 for two and were reduced to 130 for six, with all their big guns back in the hut. However, just as it appeared that UBL would triumph, their plans were dismantled by a gallant effort from Alam, who scored 181 with two sixes and 29 boundaries. Anwar played a key role as well, hitting a resolute 52 to aid his partner.



They took HBL to 337 but were thrown off once Alam’s wicket was caught three overs before the end of the match. However, Anwar and Fahad Masood brought HBL up to 341 for eight to tie the match.

Zia bowls NBP to win in low-scoring affair

Upcoming left-arm pacer Ziaul Haq claimed nine wickets as NBP defeated Wapda by 50 runs on day three.

Wapda resumed the proceedings on 31 for three needing 125 runs to win but they were bowled all-out for 105.

Zia was the chief destroyer as ending up with four scalps while Hammad Azam bagged three wickets.

Sharjeel, Yasir’s fluent fifties give ZTBL victory

Opener Sharjeel Khan and Yasir Hameed scored quick half-centuries to propel ZTBL to a six-wicket win against SBP.

ZTBL were given a target of 181 runs, and the openers put up a 127-run stand that laid the foundation for victory, as the side amassed 183 for four in just 36.4 overs.

Sharjeel top-scored with 64, while Yasir made 87.
