Inflow of remittances in July-October of fiscal year 2013-14 from Saudi Arabia, UAE, USA, UK, GCC countries (including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman) and EU countries amounted to $1.460 billion, $1.061 billion, $850.05 million, $807.63 million, $604.46 million and $149.30 million respectively.
In comparison, remittances were $1.309 billion, $1.047 billion, $841.28 million, $697.33 million, $559.51 million and $134.53 million respectively in the same period of 2012-13.
Pakistanis working in Norway, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Japan and other countries sent home $343.61 million in the first four months this year against $376.12 million in the corresponding period.
In October alone, the inflow of remittances from Saudi Arabia, UAE, USA, UK, GCC countries and EU states amounted to $353.46 million, $276.48 million, $225.25 million, $197.08 million, $157.32 million and $40.11 million respectively.
In the same month last year, overseas workers remitted $347.52 million, $293.74 million, $217.56 million, $197.18 million, $163.37 million and $37.48 million respectively.
Remittances from Norway, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Japan and other countries in October stood at $97.97 million.

I used to send money to my family in Pakistan till last year. Now I'm moving them out of that country. I will never send a single penny to a country that does not allow me to vote despite so much economic contribution. I don't deserve a vote, they don't deserve my money. Bye.
@Wali: They are allowed to vote, but they can't. The complex procedure required to get the ballot related material/ballot papers, polling staff and other procedure requires a lot of money/resources, and facilities. This is the reason so far the government cannot implement this job. Hopefully, in the next elections, based on some sort of electronic voting, overseas Pakistanis will be able to cast their vote. Government and election commission need to work with more vigor in this regard.
Please do not become to dependent on the inflows from abroad. When the people start creating roots in their adopted countries, slowly their expenses start rising thus reducing the money inflows. The cost of sending children to school, buying a new vehicle, buying a house soon becomes overwhelming thereby reducing the remittances. Therefore start spending the money wisely.
glad to be part of this Pakistani force which doing good for country. We need to explore UN, other iNGOs and businesses in remote areas of Africa. If you visit a remote city in Africa, you will find Indian restrurant and Chinese selling in wholesale market. Meet other Pakistanis, they say that they avoid meeting other countrymen because they are unprofessionals and cheat or spy on you. Its only few overseas Pakistanis who work for 'new govt' are traitors....Mr CJ....you need to find them in your surroundings too
i do not understand why do we need money from IMF, we, non-resident pakistanis are sending over 10 Billion $ every year to Pakistan. I think we need is to use the money wisely and do not waste it. we love pakistan as you all are, and probably miss more then you as we live outside and think about it all the time. Yes, we are connected and updated by news and other channels and our heart beat with the nation, every min.
@SHB: U are mistaken my friend. We overseas Pakistanis have all the Pakistani News channels in the world and it is our favorite time pass. As for the ground realities. Our families back in Pakistan keep tells us the ground realities. We all came to vote for tabdeeli from abroad. We came because we were very much aware of what is going on in Pakistan!
@Wali: They are allowed to vote but can only do so from their constituency not from abroad. But that is true for people living n Pakistan also. If a man with Peshawar constituency happens to be traveling to Islamabad, he cannot ore there.
Overseas Pakistani and dual national do not need to vote locally in Pakistani election. It is next to impossible to know the the local politics in Pakistan when you are living abroad. We should just send the money to the family back home and support the younger generation for education. If one person living abroad can support one student back home, that will be great.
5.3billion dollars in 4 months... And yet the overseas pakistanis or at least the dual nationals are not allowed to vote or become an elected representative - take a note CJ.... Mind you they can still become a civil servant or a chief justice in any court!!!
