HANGU:

Tribal and religious elders of Shia and Sunni sects from Orakzai Agency and Hangu on Saturday assured they would exhibit brotherhood, establish peace and cooperate with the government during Muharram.

A peace jirga was held under the chair of Orakzai Agency Political Agent Mehmood Aslam in Hangu where Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hangu Syed Ahmad Jan and several other government officials were also present.

Addressing the jirga, Mehmood Aslam and the DC said elders and Ulema of both sects must promote brotherhood and restore mutual trust. They added the month of Muharram had the same importance for people of both sects and should be peaceful to show respect. They also said they should secure one another by identifying the common enemy fuelling dissent between them.
