KARACHI: Awami National Party (ANP) leader Sardar Syed Lal Darwaish was shot dead in Karachi's Orangi Town on Friday, Express News reported.

The ANP spokesperson said that Darwaish was closely related to Senator Shahi Syed.

The senator had expressed grief and anger over Darwaish's killing.

During different raids conducted by the security forces today, a total of 25 people were arrested, including seven target killers, four extortionists and few members of political parties and banned outfits.

Apart from the ANP leader, the city violence claimed one more life.

Targeted operations were carried out in Korangi, Sultanabad, Gulshan-e-Ghazi, Gulburg, Liaqatabad, Manzoor Colony and near MA Jinnah Road.

Violence in Karachi has been on rise and the federal government has decided to authorise a clean-up operation in the city. The Rangers will be mainly responsible for the task, with police assisting them.

On September 5, Rangers personnel and police teams conducted a joint operation in different areas of the city and managed to arrest 28 suspects.

May he rest in peace.

Please correct if I'm wrong, no operation has been conducted in Lyari, the home base of extortionists/target-killers/drug-war?! This has to be the biggest farce of the century
