Heinous crime: Three arrested for gang rape, murder

Younus confesses that he and his accomplices raped Nauman at gunpoint.

BAHAWALPUR:

“Police have arrested the criminals involved in the rape and murder of a 15-year-old boy abducted on August 11 from Yazman,” District Police Officer Sohail Habib Tajik told a press conference here on Thursday.

He said a complaint was registered by the boy’s father, Muhammad Hanif, with Yazman police after which a team, led by DSP Mehmood Shahid, was constituted.

Tajik said the team arrested a suspect, Zunair Younus, on August 13, who confessed to abducting Muhammad Nauman, 15, with his accomplices, Saqib and Ali Hassan.

Younus told police he and his accomplices raped Nauman at gunpoint. He said they later shot him dead and threw the body in the Desert Branch Canal.

Tajik said the body had been recovered. He said Saqib and Ali Hassan had been arrested and police had recovered the weapon used in the murder.
