Targeted: Sub-inspector gunned down in Qissa Khwani Bazaar

PESHAWAR:


A sub-inspector of Khan Raziq police station was gunned down in Qissa Khwani Bazaar at the time of iftar on Tuesday.


According to the police, Sub-Inspector Gharibullah was on routine patrol in Qissa Khwani when two unidentified gunmen opened fire at him, injuring him severely. Gharib was rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

“He was our most senior sub-inspector and had been at the station for the past few years,” said an official of Khan Raziq police station. He added the attackers managed to escape after the attack.

This is the second incident of target killing within the jurisdiction of the police station in Ramazan. Earlier, former assistant director of the Intelligence Bureau Arif Khan was shot dead in Shah Wali Qatal behind Qissa Khwani Bazaar.

Policemen have been the target of unidentified assailants for the past couple of weeks.
