‘Naya Pakistan’

Letter June 21, 2013
One PTI MNAs has demanded on the assembly floor release of Mumtaz Qadri — guard, who murdered Punjab’s then-governor.

JUBAIL, SAUDI ARABIA: As the new rulers of Pakistan face the music being orchestrated by the same terrorists, who were once described by the right-wing religio-political parties as misguided brothers, we can see a real Naya Pakistan emerging on the subcontinent’s horizon. As the PTI’s provincial legislators in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) are being gunned down, one after the other, (along with scores of innocent people), one of its MNAs has demanded on the assembly floor the release of Mumtaz Qadri — the guard, who murdered Punjab’s then-governor Salmaan Taseer a few years back.

If that was not enough, another bit of news from K-P shows the long-term planning of the new rulers. The PTI’s coalition partner in the province, the Jamaat-e-Islami, has announced to impart military training to men and women aged between 18 and 35 year as part of its strategy to promote the spirit of jihad. If the above examples set the trend for the coming weeks and months, then we surely will be living in a Naya Pakistan.
