RAWALPINDI: A protest was held against the murder of a Kashmiri nationalist in Rawalpindi on Friday. Arif Shahid was killed by unidentified attackers near his house on Adiala Road on May 13.

He was the chairman of All Parties National Alliance (APNA) and President of Jammu Kashmir National Liberation Conference (JKNLC). A large number of activists of nationalist and progressive parties as well as students participated in the rally which was organised by the local chapter of the Action Committee for Peace and Justice.

The protesters demanded justice from the government as well as the United Nations. While addressing the protesters, Nisar Shah, of the Awami Workers Party (AWP), said the late Arif Shahid was engaged in a peaceful political struggle all his life. His only aim was for the unification of all parts of Jammu and Kashmir as an independent democratic state, he added.
