Gas leak: Man injured in kitchen fire

Sultan was helping his wife prepare food when kitchen caught fire from gas leaking from a pipe, says Rescue officials.

MIAN CHANNU: A man was injured on Tuesday in a fire that was caused by gas leak. He was taken to a hospital, where doctors treating him said that he would likely survive. Rescue officials said that Sultan was helping his wife prepare food when the kitchen caught fire from gas leaking from a pipe. They said his wife was in another room when the fire started. She and a servant tried to put out the fire before professional help arrived. He was taken to Nishtar Hospital in Multan, where he later told police that the fire had started due to his negligence. In Gakkhar Mandi, Gujranwala, a gas cylinder exploded at an ice factory near Ojla Bridge. Police said residents of the area came out of their houses alarmed and soem of them reported a bomb blast. They said it was later discovered that an ammonia gas cylinder had exploded. Concerned residents later protested against the factory owner for not shifting the factory away.
